Happy 6th Birthday Penny

Today is Penny’s 6th Birthday. A great Grand Champion who loved to show and still loves showing off to people. She’s an awfully good mom, still wanting to clean them all up, even the older “pups”. Not a lounge around, she has great fun with her kids in the front yard playing chase. Happy birthday to her!

Patsy goes to her new Forever Home

The time has come. Patsy has gone to her new forever home and we are very proud of her. Gary and Patti came from Missouri and fell in love. After we all met, we knew it was a match. Patsy will be their first Norwich Terrier and Maria gave them tons of info to take with them with an open invitation to call or visit any time they wanted.  So, while it makes us sad to see her go, we are really glad she is going to a great home. Her new name is now Alegria Miss Ruby Slippers, you know, from the Wizard of Oz.

We were asked how we can let them go. Our answer… because it will bring that magical, joyous feeling to others that Alegria Norwich Terriers are all about.

Norwich Terrier pups 11 weeks

So Penny’s new puppies, Norwich Terriers of course, just past 11 weeks. They are doing wonderful, having a good time. The kids have been to the our Vet a couple of times and have gotten their shots. The kids did great with the visit and of course everyone there just loved them. They have also been with us to a couple of events in the motorhome. Of course they stayed in to keep from catching anything. Folks have come to visit and socialize them, after these folks undergo intense sterilization procedures of course. Ok, well maybe not so much but they did wash up. The kids did very well with the visits, loving it the whole time.

So without further ado, here is the crew. Samson, Delilah, Poptart and Patsy;

Norwich Terriers First Birthday

So they had their birthday party, both one year old kids now. They live in CA close enough they can visit from time to time. We hear they even had a birthday party. Here are Shirley’s Grady and Janet’s Dexter after one year!

Gabby Wins It All

Our little Gabby, Alegria Irish Gift of Gab, showed in what we call the Texas Swing this July. This is a set of shows that begin in Dallas followed by San Antonio and ending up in Houston. Also the Norwich Terrier Specialty was at the Dallas show, and had a good turn out. She had 5 points coming into the swing and won her Champion title in Dallas. She was doing so well we continued on and she won her Grand Champion in Houston. What a wonderful surprise for all of us at 10 months old. She seemed to really enjoy it but now is home with us just being a playful puppy. Good for her!

Suzie wins

Our little Norwich Terrier Suzie won her second Major and Best of Breed in St. Louis MO this month. It was a long trip for us, first to Stillwater OK then St. Louis where she won points and just looked really cute. St. Louis was  a long show but very good for the little girl. Lots of exposure to different sounds, people and other dogs. Gabby was with us and got to lounge around watching all the goings on.

The Texas Swing is coming up starting in Dallas on July 7th followed the next week by San Antonio then Houston. Gabby will be joining in on the show fun this time.

Dexter Goes Home

Dexter, our little Norwich Terrier boy, went to his new forever home this last weekend. What a great family he now has and his own Facebook page to boot. His new mom just adores him and we think she fell in love with him long distance. It was a bit of a wait for them because of travels his new mom and dad were doing. But now he’s there and has already made new friends.

Here’s to you and your new home Dexter!

Stacker Turns 13

Norwich Terrier Stacker

Stacker, 13yoa, on the porch

Our wonderful Norwich Terrier Stacker, also known as Mr. Man, turns 13 today. Happy Birthday!!!

Stacks came to us a couple of years ago after he retired from another home. We came to know Stacker when he came here to visit one of our girls. Well, we fell in love with him. When he retired, Maria convinced the owner that he needed to come stay with us from now on where he could run around, lord over all and guard the place against all heinous and nefarious rodents and such.  Though his joints are a bit creaky, he gets around well. He does snore with great gusto and is a bit grumpy when the little pups bug him too much.  But he still enjoys it all, people, pups, the yard and goes with us to all the dog shows.

Happy Birthday Mr. Man!!!!

Austin Dog Show 042016

Austin Dog Show 04-2016 Trip

We took all our Norwich Terriers to the Austin Dog Show this last weekend and what fun. A busy weekend for Maria as she spent time with Judi and PW, our Handlers Extraordinaire. All the Norwich Terrier Kids loaded up in the motorhome to go camping. We arrived Friday afternoon to a sunny, cool day. Set out the mat and play pen for the kids and a couple of chairs for us and enjoyed the afternoon.

We had an early show the next morning where Gabby did wonderfully earning Best of Opposite Sex. She would repeat that Sunday. So there’s a picture of her on the beauty table waiting her turn. The other Norwich kids got to tour the show and shops and see all sorts of things. Puppy nose’s were working overtime taking it all in. They had fun and naps were the order of the day.

Finally, this was Sassy’s last trip to a show with us. She heads to her new forever home this coming weekend. So there’s a picture of her just before we left for the show. While it will make us sad to see her go, we know she will be very happy in her new home. Congrats to her and to her new mom.

By the way… they like Baked Cheddar Goldfish.

Forth Worth Dog Show 03/2016

We took all the Norwich Terrier kids to Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth for a Dog Show. Only Gabby would be showing but all the kids love to go “camping”. Gabby, in her second show ever, took reserve on Saturday. I have to say she looked pretty darn cute. The ring was in a new building which was really nice, concrete floors instead of the dirt in the old one.
So what we do is load up the motorhome with the goodies such as grooming tools, food, both human and dog, clothes, crates and of course our car seats for the older Norwich Terrier kids. Those get seat belted into the couch and are tall enough they can see out the window while we travel. This is a lot like moving though some stuff, like the pens we have, stay on the motorhome in between trips. Its a major production and the terrier kids are either in the front yard or looking out the window watching the loading going on. Have some pictures of that below along with some others. Gabby is being shown by Judi in that picture.
Scotty is hanging out, having fun. He will be with us for a while yet, waiting to go to his forever home. They are really excited but have to finish traveling before they come meet us. Sassy is also with us but her new mom and dad came to the show with some other folks to meet her. That was really nice and they are looking forward to her moving in with them after they come back from traveling. And the Norwich Terriers in the window, well from the left that is Bailey, Suzie, Sassy and Penny.
